Frying Buns Cooking Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg (optional)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup of milk (or water)
- 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine (melted)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and nutmeg. Mix well.
- Add the Wet Ingredients:
- Beat the egg in a separate bowl. Add the milk and melted butter, then whisk together.
- Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients while stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- Mix to Form a Dough:
- Combine the ingredients until a thick, sticky dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour vegetable oil into a deep frying pan or pot (about 2-3 inches deep). Heat the oil to about 350°F (175°C). Test the temperature by dropping a small piece of dough into the oil. It should sizzle and rise to the surface.
- Shape the Buns:
- Use a spoon to scoop small portions of the dough and gently drop them into the hot oil. To get round shapes, use a second spoon to push the dough off the first.
- Fry Until Golden:
- Fry the buns in batches to avoid overcrowding. Turn them occasionally to ensure even browning. Cook for about 3-5 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- Drain Excess Oil:
- Remove the buns with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed plain or with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
Tips:
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract to the batter.
- Serve with tea or coffee for a delightful snack.
